Simple Home Remedies for Beautiful Skin

Without beautiful, flawless skin, beauty is never complete. Hundreds of new creams, lotions and facemasks hit the market every month, that promise to give people the blemish free, spotless, supple skin for a price. However, following some simple steps and using age old home remedies can give you the same or even more effective results at much cheaper price. Here are some of them.

Keep It Clean

Beautifying the skin through make-up takes its toll on it as it clogs the pores of skin and stops it from breathing freely. Keeping the skin free from oils, dirt, grime and make-up is very important. Cleansing the skin thoroughly twice a day, exfoliating it for removal of dead cells and keeping it free of thick make-up is the first step towards radiant and glowing skin.

Take Healthy Diet

The beauty of the skin cannot be taken care of only through external care; good nutrition through a healthy diet consisting of fresh fruits, vegetables, whole grains and plenty of liquid is equally important. Drinking plenty of water is one of the most important requirements of the body, not just for beauty of skin, but also for maintaining a healthy body. Though it appears a simple process, it can dramatically change the appearance of the skin by cleansing it, preventing dryness and helping in the removal of toxins.

Avoid Direct Sunlight

Sunlight is the source of vitamin D which is important for our bodies, but being exposed to direct sunlight during the time when the sun is high on the horizon can lead to dryness, age spots, wrinkles, freckles and cancer of skin. Care should be taken to protect the skin from sunlight by wearing appropriate clothing and applying sunscreen lotions.

Avocado Facemask

Avocado is a fatty fruit that is rich in vitamins A, D and E. The avocado facemask is known to soften, moisturize and keep the skin healthy.

Take flesh from a ripe avocado and mash it thoroughly. Apply the paste on the face and neck and allow it to dry for 15 minutes, before washing it off with cool water.

The face mask is excellent remedy for dry skin, and especially beneficial in winter when the skin gets chapped.

Lemon for Spots and Freckles

Squeeze juice from a fresh lemon; add 1 tsp of sour curds to it. Dab this on the spots and freckles in the night, allow it to dry and leave it overnight. Wash the face with warm water in the morning.

This helps in removal of spots, blemishes and freckles from skin and the difference is clearly visible in a few weeks time.

Eggs for Wrinkles and Sagging

Wrinkles are dreaded by many as they steal the skin of its youthful look, making it appear aged. The market is full of anti-wrinkles creams and lotions which are priced very high. A simple homemade remedy is effective in removal of wrinkles as effectively as any cosmetic cream.

Beat an egg with 1 tsp of olive oil thoroughly. Spread the mix evenly over the skin. Allow it to dry completely. Once dry, remove the mask by a wet cotton ball dipped in hot water in which baking soda has been dissolved.
