Urinary Tract Infection, commonly known as UTI, is a painful infection caused by bacteria involving kidneys, ureters, bladder and urethra. Though the malady can infect anyone. Women are known to be more vulnerable to UTI as their anatomy facilitates the bacterial infections since in women, the urethra is placed in close proximity to anus which harbors bacteria, thus increasing the risk of infection.

Often, the infectivity starts at the urethra and then spreads to the internal organs causing distress and symptoms like burning sensation while urinating, frequent urination, bloating, discomfort and pressure in lower abdomen, foul smelling, discolored and stained urine, backache, pain in pelvic area, and fever.

UTI can develop into serious conditions like cystitis, pyuria and pelonephritis when left untreated. Fortunately following some simple remedial methods can help in control and prevention of UTI.
